The 1984 Ford Bronco is more than just an off-road icon—it’s a classic piece of American automotive history. Manufactured during the third generation of the Bronco’s run, this model combines rugged capability with classic design, making it a favorite among vintage SUV enthusiasts.

Restoration Progress

Our first step was to assess the vehicle thoroughly, understanding both the visible and hidden problems that come with any vintage vehicle of this age.

With a clear plan in mind, we began the teardown process:

Removing the HardtopThe hardtop was the first component to be removed, giving us easier access to the vehicle’s interior and allowing us to prepare for a complete overhaul.

Hood RemovalNext, we removed the hood to inspect the engine bay and prepare for media blasting and sanding. The 1984 Bronco’s large hood is a signature piece, so restoring it to pristine condition is a priority.

Taking Off the Fenders and DoorsTo fully access the body for media blasting and ensure all problem areas are addressed, we removed the front fenders and doors. This process also lets us inspect for rust, which is common in older Broncos.

Disassembling the DashThe dash required careful removal to media blast and repaint it, making sure it would match the new aesthetic we have in mind for the vehicle.

Once the teardown was complete, we began preparing the body for its new paint job. The Bronco’s large panels and intricate details make proper preparation crucial to ensure a flawless finish.

Sanding the Fenders, Doors, and HoodAfter removing these components, we meticulously sanded them down to the bare metal. This step ensures that the surface is smooth and ready for the next stage of the restoration.

Applying Epoxy SealerOnce sanded, we applied an epoxy sealer to the body. This protects the metal from rust and provides a perfect base for the new paint, ensuring the finish is durable and long-lasting.
