1950 Ford F1

The first generation of the Ford F-Series (also known as the Ford Bonus-Built trucks) is a series of trucks that was produced by Ford Motor Company from the 1948 to the 1952 model years. The introduction of the F-Series marked the divergence of Ford car and truck design, developing a chassis intended specifically for truck use. Alongside pickup trucks, the model line included also panel vans, bare and cowled chassis, and marked Ford's entry into the medium- and heavy-duty truck segment.

From 1947 to 1952, Ford assembled F-Series trucks at 16 facilities across North America. In Canada, the model line was also marketed through Lincoln-Mercury as the Mercury M-Series to expand dealership coverage in rural areas. This generation of F-Series pickup trucks is the only generation to use entirely flathead engines (inline-6 and V8s).

Yealy changes that were made in 1950 was the standard three-speed shift was relocated from the floor to the steering column mid-year. Additionally, the bed lost its structural indents, becoming smooth-sided, and the tailgate chain brackets were now welded to the roll instead of inside it. These changes were kept through 1951-52.

On this pickup we will be doing a brand-new paint job, new bed slats and getting a new interior. We have removed the old wooden bed slats to prepare for media blast. Here we have dropped the fuel tank. Having taken the windows out of the doors, we will continue to prepare for media blast. We have removed the hood, doors and interior. We have removed the bed from the pickup.

Getting ready to remove the engine from the chassis. The engine and transmission has been completely removed. The cab, hood, doors and bed have been media blasted. There was some rust found in the driver's side rocker panel that we have cut out to replace. More rust was found on the rear of the bed, it has been cut out to replace with new metal. Body work has begun on the cab of the pickup.

We removed the rear axle and have begun replacing The rear cab corners have been replaced with new cab corners. We have removed the old control arm bushings to replace with brand new ones. After removing the old bushings, we cleaned them up and put a fresh coat of paint on them. The engine is ready to begin rebuilding all the components back together.

We have gotten the pistons and crankshaft reinstalled on the engine. The engine has been painted blue and is ready to be installed back with the cab. The upper and lower fenders have been welded together, also testing the fit with the grille. Now we are making the foam for the seats by custom fitting them to the new "Buddy Seat" that will go into the cab.

The frame of the seats and console have been painted black. Test fitting the new seats in the cab. Since replacing the rear cab corners, we are body working them for a smooth finish.
