The fourth generation of the C/K series is a range of trucks that was manufactured by General Motors. Marketed by the Chevrolet and GMC brands from the 1988 to the 2002 model years, this is the final generation of the C/K model line. In a branding change, GMC adopted the GMC Sierra nameplate for all its full-size pickup trucks, leaving the C/K nomenclature exclusive to Chevrolet.
Internally codenamed the GMT400 platform, GM in multiple facilities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. After the 2000 model year, the fourth-generation C/K was discontinued and was replaced by the GMT800 platform (introduced for 1999); the C3500HD heavy-duty chassis cab model remained in production through 2002. In line with the GMC Sierra, Chevrolet subsequently adopted a singular Chevrolet Silverado nameplate for its full -size truck line (which remains in use).
For 1990, Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks underwent a minor exterior revision, with upper trims (Chevrolet Scottsdale/Silverado, and GMC SLX/SLE) replacing four sealed beam headlamps with white-lens composite headlamps: base trims (Cheyenne and GMC SL) continued the use of two sealed-beam headlamps. Two new versions (exclusive to Chevrolet) were introduced: the W/T 1500 and the 454SS. Th W/T 15500 (W/T stands for Work Truck) was a de-contented version of the Cheyenne marketed primarily for work use and was available with the 4.3L V6, regular cab, and 8' bed (a 6.5' Fleetside bed was later available); the 454SS combined elements of the Sport Equipment Package with the 7.4L V7 of 3500-series trucks.
This truck came in for a new paint job, we will be removing the trim, badging and windows. We will also be removing the old interior and replacing with all new interiors. Including carpet, door panels, seat covers headliner and speaker covers. We have removed the bench seat from the cab. We have removed the carpet, door panels, headliner and sun visors from the cab of the truck.
We have removed the fenders, grille and hood in preparation for media blast. We have moved the truck into the field to be media blasted down to bare metal. Here we have moved the truck inside after media blast to start cleaning all the sand from the body. The cab has been epoxy sealed in the paint booth. The hood has been epoxy sealed.
We have begun some bodywork around the driver's door, rear of the cab and on the roof. The passenger door had a small amount of rust that we cut out and placed a new patch panel in. Doing some bodywork on the hood to ensure a phenomenal paint job. We are doing some bodywork to both the driver and passenger doors.
