1962 Chevrolet Bel Air

The Chevrolet Bel Air is a full-size car produced by Chevrolet for the 1950-1981 model years. Initially, only the two-door hardtops in the Chevrolet model range were designated with the Bel Air name from 1950 to 1952. With the 1953 model year, the Bel Air name was changed from a designation for a unique body shape to a premium level of trim applied across a number of body styles. The Bel Air continued with various other trim car to a budget fleet sedan when U.S. production ceased in 1975. Production continued in Canada, for its home market only, through the 1981 model year.

Restoration Progress

This Bel Air came to have the floor pan, rocker panels and bracing cut out and replaced. We will also weld in some patch panels in the front fender, along with media blasting and a new paint job.

We have started cutting out the rusted floor pan to replace with a new one.

The bracing that holds the floorpan is completely rusted, so we will be replacing that as well.

The original floorpan has been completely removed.

We have cut out a bit of rust that was found in the rocker panel.

The spot where the rust was in the rocker panel has had new metal welded into strengthen the frame.

The rusted brace support has been cut out to be replaced with a new stronger support.

We have removed the body from the chassis in order media blast the chassis.

The frame has been stripped down to be media blasted.

We have ground down the welds on the floor pan.

The body is on the rotisserie to have better access to the bottom of the vehicle.

The frame has been media blasted down to bear metal.

After moving the frame into the paint booth, we have gotten the frame sprayed with epoxy sealer.

After painting the frame black, we have started to rebuild all the components back onto the frame.
